Physical Education
1st period-Full Year

Summary: Various sports will be done to include soccer, basketball, etc.

Supplies Needed: SNEAKERS MUST BE WORN TO CLASS EACH WEEK, various sports equipment may be needed such as basketballs, soccer balls, tennis racket & balls.

History
2nd period-Full YearInstructor: Lynnea Hameloth
Curriculum: Story of the World, Volume 4 and real books
Summary: We will be learning about the modern time periods (1800s-2000). We will be reading from the SOW in class and doing related hands-on activities. I try and make history come alive and not be boring! I will be handing out a booklist that you can choose to read from.
Homework: Occasional
Supplies Needed: You will not need to purchase Story of the World, Vol. 3 unless you want to do more intense reading in it at home. It is not needed for class participation. The student will need a 3-ring binder and a pencil.

Science (to include Health)
2nd period & 3rd period-Full Year

Curriculum: BJU Science 5 (3rd Edition)
Summary:Topics covered will include: Rocks: minerals, fossils, dinosaurs, matter, Energy: heat, weather, biomes, ecosystems, sound, light, Respiratory system, Circulatory system. Students will need to read at home each week. There will be activities to complete at home as well. Tests will NOT be given. Parents can test at home if they would like.

Art
3rd period-Full Year

Curriculum: Picturing America
Summary: We will explore American Art History using "Picturing America". We will study a different picture each week then describe, analyze and interpret the piece. We will also explore literary connections to the piece.

Writing
4th period-Full Year
Instructor: Jes Widrick
Curriculum: Bob Jones English 5 worktext
Summary:This writing class will strengthen your child’s writing skills through a variety of writing projects. It is a comprehensive writing and grammar course when the parent follows through with the writing and grammar assignments throughout the week. We will complete 8 writing projects throughout the year, taking each project through the writing process. Writing homework will involve completing one step in the writing process each week (prewriting, drafting, revising/editing, final copy) and should generally take about 30 minutes. Each week we will also introduce a grammar concept that can be practiced during the week using the Bob Jones English 5 work text. These grammar assignments will not be checked or graded in class. Journal writing will also be encouraged and a journal entry will be started each Monday morning. This class will be most effective if the parent schedules 15-30 minutes of homework time for 3-4 days during the week. This class has weekly homework that MUST be completed each week. The parent is expected to work with the child on the writing homework.

U.S. Geography
4th period-Full Year

Summary: Students will go on a geography journey through all 50 states while developing research and maps skills in this fun US Geography class.
Homework: Extensive, daily, but not difficult

Human Body
5th period-Spring Only
Instructor: Sherry Ellenberger
Curriculum: The Body Book
Summary: Students will create paper models of several body systems, which will enable them to associate the name of a body part with what it looks like, where it is located in the body and what it does. We will place each of these models together on poster board to form a life size human body model with its organs and systems. We will be playing review games as time permits. This class will require the student to follow directions. They must label, color, cut and tape together paper body parts.

Musical Drama
5th period-Full Year
Instructor: Renee Heisey
Curriculum: NA
Summary: The students will perform a children’s musical entitled, “Livin’ Inside Out in an Upside Down World”, by Celeste & David Clydesdale. It is a modern day musical about God’s truth changing us to live inside out. The entire musical takes place in a gym class at Fellowship Christian Academy and includes energetic songs with choreography, as well as solos & speaking parts. All students will be on stage for the entire performance. Auditions will be held for solos & speaking parts.
