Art

1st period-Fall Only

Summary: This class will consist of hands on activities which reflect the style of the "Artist of the Week".  The students will "meet" several artists and using a variety of art media will make a project based on the style of the artist whom we are studying each week.

Fun Math

1st period-Spring Only
Instructor: Alura Hameloth
Curriculum: NA
Summary: This class will provide opportunities for students to improve their understanding and recall of addition and subtraction facts.  Class time will be spent on games and activities to make learning mah facts fun! This is a supplemental class and should not be used as a core math class.  The students must have prior instruction in and comprehension of the concepts of addition and subtraction.

Legos

1st period-Fall Only
Instructor: Marla Hoober
Curriculum: Lego Action Contraption Kit Booklet
Summary: This will be a fun class for those children who love to create with Legos. While there will be several teacher-directed activities to guide their creativity, there will also be plenty of time for free play with Legos. The children will be encouraged to bring in a Lego model of something they made at home to show to the class.

Music

Summary: In this class the students will learn beginning music theory, name musical instrument families, identify famous musical composers, develop music appreciation, and learn that music can tell a story.

Famous Americans

2nd period-Fall & Spring
Instructor: Debbie Jackson
Curriculum: U.S. History Little Books Famous People
Summary: Each week we will learn about a famous American and do a craft that goes along with them.
Homework: None
Supplies Needed: Pencil, crayons, scissors and glue stick.

Native Americans

2nd period-Fall & Spring

Summary: This class will learn about the history of Native Americans.  We will discuss the different tribes.  We will do activities relating to what we are discussing.

Health

3rd period-Fall & Spring
Instructor: Marcia Stauffer
Curriculum: Hands of a Child
Summary: Helpful info about nutrition, exercise and healthy habits will be covered in this class. Lapbooks and worksheets will be used to teach these subjects.
Homework: Occassional or what does not get finished in class
Supplies Needed: Pencils, crayons or colored pencils, scissors, glue stick, tape runner or double sided tape for the lapbooks

Science

Summary: Students will study various topics relating to space and our solar system. A variety of worksheets, books, and hands-on activities will be used to teach the different concepts.

Physical Education

4th period-Full Year

Summary: A physical education class that will include group games, tumbling, relays, etc.

Supplies Needed: SNEAKERS MUST BE WORN TO CLASS EACH WEEK.  ANY STUDENTS NOT WEARING SNEAKERS TO CLASS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE.

Critical Thinking

5th period-Fall Only
Instructor: Melody Miller
Curriculum: NA
Summary: Visual perception and thinking skills will be reinforced in this fun class. Various subject areas will include: language arts, vocabulary, listening comprehension, and math. Children will use a variety of age appropriate worksheets, puzzles, mazes, riddles, and games to practice these important concepts and engage their bright minds!

Musical Drama

5th period-Full Year
Instructor: Renee Heisey
Curriculum: NA
Summary: The students will perform a children’s musical entitled, “Livin’ Inside Out in an Upside Down World”, by Celeste & David Clydesdale. It is a modern day musical about God’s truth changing us to live inside out. The entire musical takes place in a gym class at Fellowship Christian Academy and includes energetic songs with choreography, as well as solos & speaking parts. All students will be on stage for the entire performance. Auditions will be held for solos & speaking parts.

Class Fee: $10 to help cover the cost of CDs, scenery, and costumes
